Screen eligibility before writing essays

Record citizenship or immigration-status restrictions, school-leaver eligibility, residency conditions, prerequisites and testing policy. Residence in the US is not automatically permanent residency. If a category is unclear, obtain a programme-specific response before paying an application fee.

For example, an international school-leaver should not treat admission to Rochester’s ordinary undergraduate programme as eligibility for REMS. The two decisions have different boundaries.

Check the expensive and restrictive details

Read the medical-school funding policy, not only undergraduate aid pages. Brown specifically warns that medical-school financial aid is unavailable to international PLME students who are neither US citizens nor permanent residents. Also check conditions attached to admission and applying to other medical schools.

Maintain a shortlist you can audit

Use columns for official URL, entry year, eligibility, degree length, progression requirements, application deadline and funding for each stage. Put unknowns in an action column rather than treating them as permission.

The old long directory mixed routes and dates. Add a programme only after finding its current official page; a historical blog listing or an old university brochure is not enough.
