F&M institutionally assessed need-based financial aid for undergraduate study.
Official source · 2026-10-11 ↗
Who can apply
Institutional need is cost of attendance minus expected family contribution and non-need aid. Assessment includes total income, undergraduate siblings, biological/adoptive and step-parent information, business losses and home equity capped at 120% of income.
Official source · 2026-10-11 ↗International applicants requesting substantial aid face a more competitive admission process. Applying for aid is not a promise of admission or a confirmed individual award.

Exclusions and exceptions
Request institutional need-based aid before admission and answer Yes to the application’s aid-intent question. Students admitted without aid in year one cannot request institutional assistance later; annual federal-aid consideration remains separate.

What the funding covers
Meets demonstrated need for admitted students over four years; this does not guarantee all costs without a family contribution.
Official source · 2026-10-11 ↗Financial assistance may combine grants/scholarships, loans and work-study; it is not necessarily an all-grant package.
Official source · 2026-10-11 ↗Expected minimum student earnings contribution is $1,550 in year one and $2,150 in each of the next three years. Tax-sheltered retirement balances, consumer debt and sibling private-school/community-college/graduate costs are not used in the published calculation.

Documents to prepare
Parents in separate households complete separate CSS Profiles. Required signed student/parent returns, W-2s and business schedules go through IDOC; do not fax or email tax documents. US-resident students renew CSS annually; complete exceptional-family rules are not yet confirmed in this guide.

How to apply
Domestic first-year applicants submit CSS Profile, 2027/28 FAFSA and signed 2025 tax documents through IDOC, including W-2s and personal/business schedules. Early Decision I is due 15 November; ED II/Regular Decision 15 January, without exact times.
Official source · 2026-10-11 ↗Domestic transfers use the same CSS/FAFSA/2025 tax package. Fall transfer priority/final dates: 15 April/1 July; Spring: 15 November/1 December. Returning domestic applicants submit CSS, FAFSA and 2025 taxes by 1 April, with notification by 30 June.
Official source · 2026-10-11 ↗International applicants use CSS Profile or F&M’s International Aid Form; the international paragraph still labels CSS Fall 2026/Spring 2027, unlike the domestic 2027/28 instructions. Non-aid applicants submit Certification of Finances. Applications are not reviewed until finance documents are complete.

Keeping your funding
International aid is based on pre-admission family information for four on-campus years, without annual CSS. Standard tuition/fee/room/board increases may change aid, but later personal financial changes are not considered under this route.
