About this programme

Who can apply

  • Financial Aid Office scholarships for international students are very limited. Submit the scholarship application by the published deadline and consult International Student & Scholar Services for other opportunities; this is not an exclusion of all international applicants.

What the funding covers

Documents to prepare

  • FAFSA is required for need-based consideration. Dependent FAFSA applicants must include parent information; independent students are still considered using available need factors without parent information.

How to apply

  • Complete the BYU scholarship application by the posted deadline even if not yet admitted. After admission, apply by the continuing-student deadline annually. The page asks for FAFSA by January 2 each year for full scholarship consideration; need-based and exceptional-route details are retained separately.

  • For continuing academic awards, the mission guidance permits automatic return-semester consideration after twelve BYU credits and a Mission Deferment Form, without a new application unless seeking additional awards. It cites February 1, conflicting with the main January 2 table. Mission-return need-based guidance cites FAFSA January 20, also differing from the main January 2 instruction. Confirm the applicable deadline; the exact closing time is not confirmed.

Keeping your funding

  • For mission deferral, a leave may precede the mission, but return enrolment must follow the Mission Deferment Form’s allowed period. Fall/winter awards may defer and reactivate for the scheduled return; spring/summer awards cannot defer. Apply for freshman awards during senior high school even if a mission will precede attendance.

Application dates

Check the dates for your intended intake. Previous-cycle dates are included for planning and do not confirm that applications are open.

Dates for the next application cycle are not yet confirmed.

  • The main table lists January 2 2027 for spring/summer and fall2027 applications, including international applicants. Graduate students use departmental deadlines. The winter continuing deadline is for returning missionaries; transfers require twelve completed BYU credits by January2 for continuing academic consideration. Mission guidance elsewhere gives conflicting dates.

Before you apply

Check the provider’s full terms for your citizenship, residence, course and intake. This overview is not a personal eligibility assessment.

Not yet confirmed in this guide: exclusions and exceptions; costs to plan for; academic and course requirements.

Important details to confirm
  • The application guide does not contain programme-specific award amounts, full citizenship/residence rules, academic selection thresholds, enrolment/renewal conditions or complete award contracts. International exceptional-route eligibility still need confirmation. Published general and mission-return deadlines conflict; current availability is not confirmed.
